RTK 1 is the public broadcaster from the new nation of Kosovo, formally it was the public broadcaster of the Kosovo region of Serbia, broadcasting in the majority spoken Albanian but also in the minority languages of Serbian, Bosnian, Turkish and Roma.
Since Kosovo is in the news after braking away from Serbia and declaring itself an independent nation, the nations of the world are bickering about if they recognise the new of Kosovo or not.
So I thought Id upload this today, and get it while its still news worthy.
First we see and hear a simple colour bar test card with what I can only guess is Radio Kosovo in the background with is common place among broadcasters in Europe who shut down instead of hearing a test tone, then quickly with no note into a shot panning over a square in Prishtina the Kosovoan capital then into a quick close up shot of a statue.
Who's this guy?....
This guy is Skanderbeg he a folk hero and freedom fighter for the Albanian peoples of the region after his struggle with the Ottoman Empire in the 1400's.
Some lovely shots of this beautiful statue, but it gets a bit much after awhile.
If anyone can identify the music used please contact me by commentating or email, I did check to see if it was the interval signal for Radio Kosovo but it was not.
I guess RTK 1 will produce a new video sometime soon with the new Kosovoan flag, I will monitor the channel once a week for a few weeks and see.
Cheers and enjoy..
