JOCX-TV Channel 8

JOCX-TV is the flagship station of the Fuji News Network and The Fuji Network System, JOCX-TV is operated by Fuji Television Network Inc.

JOCX-TV broadcasts on VHF channel 8 and serves the Kantō region of Japan which includes the capital Tokyo.

JOCX-TV began broadcasting on March 1st 1959 and quickly networked with other television stations in Japan.

JOCX-TV still closes down every so often at around 5am for around half an hour, and since Japanese broadcasting relies on Call Signs JOCX-TV uses this video as station identification, the same video is played at the start of the new broadcast day.

Now onto the actual video, first of we see this strange building rendered in 3D, which turns out is JOCX-TV headquarters on Odaiba which is a artificial island in Tokyo bay.

Then futuristic buildings start to spring up around the headquarters and the rest is pretty much self explanatory.

At the end they are in space on an space station labelled Fuji TV which notice has the same sphere as Fuji TV's headquarters, so obviously what they are saying here is Fuji TV will one day broadcast and produce shows from space, who needs satellite broadcasting when you got whole studios in space! no time delay with uplinking there.

Then an announcer in English spells out the call sign JOCX-TV and short message which translates as "This is Fuji Television", and then into a SMPTE colour bar test card with two sets of writing in the bottom left says Fuji Television written in Katakana which is a a style of Japanese writing, mostly used for foreign/loan words.

For historical reasons this video aired on morning of the 15th June 2008.

Call Sign Information

Broadcast television and radio in Japan aimed for public consumption all use call signs, their call signs begin with JO and then two letters which I guess are chosen by the broadcaster and the broadcast medium, for example JOAU-FM for FM radio or JOCX-DTV for Digital TV, AM/MW Radio stations do not need to mention their broadcast medium.

Thanks and enjoy.
