HLAM-TV is the MBC television station for the city of Mokpo in South Korea and broadcasts VHF Channel 7.
I believe the signal can be received on the island of Jeju-do due the islands close proximity to Mokpo.
HLAM-TV broadcasts a full schedule of MBC provided shows and also many locally produced shows including local news broadcasts.
HLAM-TV started broadcasting on May 29th 1984.
The Video
First of we see a really great ident for the MBC network, then a video that I guess explains the purpose of Mokpo MBC.
Then into the National Anthem video, I will let this video speak for itself except I think it starts with a panning shot of Heaven Lake in most northern region of the Korean Peninsula, the lake is also at the start of KCTV start up that was featured last week on this blog.
The National Anthem of South Korea is played through-out and the Flag of the South Korea is also featured.
Call Sign Information
Broadcasting in South Korea aimed for public consumption are all assigned call signs, all call signs begin with HL and then two letters which I guess are chosen by the broadcaster and the broadcast medium, for example HLDG-AM for AM radio on MW.
FM and AM/MW radio stations are required to announce their call signs on air but I am unsure about television.
Maybe there was a requirement for television at one time but I am unsure about now.
It seem television call signs are grandfathered from earlier AM or FM radio stations the broadcaster had ran before the launch of their television service, this is similar to North America.
I hope you all enjoy....

About the Video :
The Video explains their Main purpose as a Public Broadcaster since MBC is mostly Government owned.
About the Call Sign :
All Call signs before begin with "JO" [KBS' Radio call sign that time was JOKR],Since they were invaded by the Japanese in mid 1900's,Korea began Radio Transmissions in 1927,They where the 3rd country to Transmit Radio Signals in Asia,First is the Philippines [About 1920] and Japan [1925]
And by the way,MBC has seperate Stations in Mokpo and Jeju-do. :)
I understand imbeheadlines the same could be said with Okinawa a few radio and television stations there had their call signs changed after the United States handed the island back to Japan.
Hi remlap, you know, at startup MBC would show a reverse version of this one except for the ident which is shown before the first program at 6am local time, before it some promos and commercials are shown.
Additionally, MBC is also available here in the Philippines, a major TV company is broadcasting the Seoul feed (HLKV-TV channel 11) to cable viewers, that company broadcast their TV shopping service on that channel when MBC airs shows that cannot be shown due to rights restrictions.
As for this video, I think this is from the national feed. When I stayed at midnight one night (recently) and saw the closedown, it was the same as the one shown here.
Cheers :)
Hi Paolo, good post I did now that, that's quite common that the National Anthem is the first and last thing on air.
Is there a large Korean population there, is KBS or any other large Korean station rebroadcast there?
All we get in Europe is KBS World TV.
Cheers
In Los Angeles and San Diego, we mostly get NHK World. I saw some Korean TV once in Anaheim, CA, but not certain if it was local or MBC.
