PTC (RTS) Sat

PTC (RTS) Sat is the international satellite channel of the public service broadcaster Радио-телевизија Србије or in English Radio-Television Serbia.

RTS Sat broadcasts a mixture of content from RTS national channels RTS 1 and 2.

RTS Sat does not close down at night but simulcasts mainly with RTS 1 over night, but airs this start up video with RTS 1 at 6am CET each morning.

RTS Sat is available to Serbian speakers in Europe, parts of the Middle East and North Africa, North American and Australia on satellite.

Don't really need to explain this video, its is fairly obvious and will let the video speak for itself.

We do see though the Flag of Serbia flying in the wind, hear the National Anthem playing, patriotic shots of the country and its people, and at the end of the video a list of the first few hours of that days schedule on RTS 1 not RTS Sat, which I guess would get confusing.

Anyway enjoy this great start up video.

It broadcasts on UHF Channel 55 at 0.03 Kw where it gets its name, but its also available in the Middle East and most of Western Europe on satellite on Badr 4.

Not really much to discus with this video im afraid but hey I have to keep this blog going.

Right onto the video, first we see three Gentlemen, King Hamad ibn Isa Al Khalifah in the centre, to the right Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and on the left Prime Minster Khalifah ibn Sulman Al Khalifah.

Then the National Anthem Bahrainona starts and the Flag of Bahrain but reversed, and Arabic text is featured on the red side of the flag.

RÚV Sjónvarpið

First of I'd like to say a big thank you to the Wotsat Blog for reviewing this blog yesterday and welcoming any new readers who saw the review.

Back to Business

Sjónvarpið which literally means "The Television" in English, is the National Television channel of the Icelandic public service broadcaster RÚV (Ríkisútvarpið).

Sjónvarpið broadcasts in the Icelandic language for all the shows produced in the country and all other foreign imports are subtitled in Icelandic and so left in the native language it was created in, this is common practice in the Nordic countries.

Sjónvarpið broadcasts mainly News, Children's Shows, the odd Comedy, Sports and Cultural shows in the Icelandic language, with the rest of the time made up with American, other Nordic Broadcasters or British (Mainly originating from the BBC) imports.

RÚV is funded by the Icelandic licence fee which is supplemented with commercials.

Now I guess this video will take a little bit of explaining the stunning locations so here goes....

First we see the Icelandic Flag blowing in the wind, and the National Anthem playing.

The the video pans into a shot of the Þingvellir which means Assembly Fields in English which was the site of the first parliament of Iceland the Alþingi in the year 930 BCE.

The Þingvellir is the located where the North American and European tectonic plates drift apart.

Next we see a few beautiful shots of the Öxarárfoss a stunning Waterfall in the Þingvellir National Park.

Now a few panoramic wide distance shots of National Park and the Þingvallavatn lake in the distance.

Shots of the plant life, un-melted snow cover, the river with water flowing, another shot of the Öxarárfoss I guess in Winter or Early Spring, a wide shot of the area in Winter or Early Spring.

The Þingvellir is the home to "Birth" of Christianity in Iceland I believe.

So now a shot of the present day Church that is at The Þingvellir and was built in 1859, and a final shot of the Flag blowing in the wind.

Now onto two 3D graphics, the second looks mightily old school but still looks awesome and finally a Phillips PM5544 / Test Card G with RUV identification and RÚV Radio Rás 1 broadcast over night till the next broadcast day which is on Weekdays around 4pm GMT and Weekends 6am.

What a spectacular way to end the broadcast day.

Lots of scrolling but I hope you have read all this information to get a better perspective on this stunning close down video.

Enjoy and thanks very much for reading.

2M TV

2M TV is a semi government owned advertising funded channel from Morocco.

2M TV is a French and Arabic broadcaster, broadcasting News, US shows that are dubbed, to movies.

2M TV does not close down at night but still broadcast this at the start of the broadcast day.

Another simple video, not really much to explain really, The Flag of Morocco blowing in the wind with the National Anthem playing, then the Coat of Arms layered over it, then a shot of King Mohammed VI sitting in a chair with the flag flying to the left.

Afterwards a really cool 2M 3D Ident.

Now why cant all public broadcasters at atleast do this even if they broadcast 24/7.

Anyway Enjoy.

HRT 1

HRT 1 is the first television channel of Hrvatska RadioTelevizija which literally means Croatia RadioTelevision in Croatian.

HRT is funded by the Croatian licence fee and advertising, but only a certain percentage of air time can be given to advertising by law.

HRT 1 broadcasts on a mixture of VHF and UHF frequencies in analogue PAL B/G throughout Croatia and DVB-T on UHF in some areas.

HRT 1 does not close down at night but broadcasts a "Najava programa" each morning at the start of the new broadcast day.

First of we see an ident for HRT 1, which shows what HRT means and a 1 logo.

Now a simple Croatian Flag flying in the wind and a few close ups onto the flag every so often, and the National Anthem playing.

Close to the end of the National Anthem "HRVATSKA RADIOTELEVIZIJA" appears on screen, then a final informational screen of the 3 most important people at HRT, the website url and the postal address.

And now time to start an new broadcast day.

Hope you enjoy this simple start up.

Television Boliviana

Television Boliviana is the public television broadcaster of Bolivia.

Since Bolivia has many commercial television stations Television Bolivian focuses on shows that have a public value, broadcasts vary from news, to educational shows to presidential speeches.

It broadcasts on VHF Channel 7 in I guess the capital of Bolivia Sucre which means Sugar in Catalan, but I guess this has no relation to the naming of the city.

Television Boliviana closes down each night and starts it broadcast day at 6am local time.

Anyway enough of my babbling on...

First we see two test cards, first which is used over night and the second which appears close to start up / sign on.

Then into the start up video, a bird flying and the National Anthem is playing, then shots of boats, a solider in dress uniform, the lyrics start, shots of the country, shots of the farmers at work, a drummer, soldiers in dress uniform, raising of the Flag of Bolivia, more shots of the country, the beach, the Coat of Arms, now historical figures of Bolivia's past, the Presidents inauguration, shot of I guess the constitution, loads of flags, architecture, another shot of I guess the constitution close up, kids at school, statute of Jesus looking over Cochabamba, various flags that have been used by Bolivia, the armed services, a trumpeter, a drummer, shot of the flag flying in the wind, and the end of the National Anthem.

And that starts a new broadcast day.

Cheers and Enjoy.

RTM 1

RTM 1 is the oldest television station in Malaysia, it is run by the state broadcaster Radio Televisyen Malaysia.

RTM 1 broadcasts mainly in the Malay language and broadcasts local news, information and entertaining shows.

RTM 1 continues to closedown daily although its sister station RTM 2 which is an all English channel broadcasts a 24 hour schedule.

RTM 1 mainly uses Band III for most of its broadcasts in the country, which could be any of VHF channels 7-13.

In the Klang Valley it broadcasts on Band I VHF Channel 5 with a weak signal.

This information is thanks to Wikipedia I am unable to confirm this.

Right on to the start up, first of we see RTM 1 Phillips PM5544 / Test Card G with the channel identification and country, I assume they have had some DX reports from other countries maybe? also with some music playing which I assume is a radio station from Radio Televisyen Malaysia.

Then a very retro looking digital clock appears, and now finally the Flag of Malaysia appears and flying in the wind and the National Anthem Negaraku playing and is also subtitled.

Shows of people working the fields, the military, plant life, dancers, buildings, the Elected Monarchy, children at play, and another shot of the Elected Monarchy, and a final shot of the flag flying in the wind again.

Hope you all enjoy....

TVNZ Goodnight Kiwi

Up until the mid nighties television in New Zealand like most of the world closed down for the night, but it New Zealand from the seventies on they did it a little differently, with the Goodnight Kiwi animation, who with his cat has seemed to have become some what of a cult nostalgic iconic in New Zealand to the point of being parodied in many comedies and on other channels.

In 2007 the animation was brought back into use and is now broadcast on TVNZ new digital only channel TVNZ6 which closes at midnight each evening.

This is my first blog post using a video from Youtube, since my original goal was to use videos that I have that are not found elsewhere, but I think he is just to cute to ignore

Thanks to TVNZ and Youtube for this video.

Enjoy.... And sleep well Kiwi

ORTM

ORTM is the national broadcaster of the West African country of Mali.

ORTM broadcasts a number of local radio stations and ORTM television broadcasts on VHF Channel 5 in the capital of Mali Bamakó, and then on local repeaters across the country. It is also available on satellite to all of Europe on KU Band and the whole African continent on C Band.

It is mainly a Francophone station broadcasting I assume Quebecker or French dubs of major American shows like 24 and cartoons nationally, then many shows in the Bambara language at other times, and regional broadcasts in the native language there.

ORTM stands for Office de Radiodiffusion-Télévision du Mali.

Right into the video, first we see the ORTM Logo which features the outline of Mali and the flag of Mali.

Now this is the most interesting use of patriotic video of a country, its inside a little frame in the outline of the country, with the National Anthem playing with subtitles, the flag blowing in the wind in a square frame to the left.

Inside the frame are shots of the country, military marching, then the flag inside the country frame, trains, coastline with a sunrise, the politicians, men on the water in boats, waterfalls, and the final shot of the water.

Request

I would like to put out a request to anyone who has a shut down or start up video from any-where in the world or know of a channel that does, I would like to have it so I can upload it here, I will credit you of course.

Please email me at remlap1986 at gmail.com

Thanks very much and enjoy....
