DWET-TV Channel 5 is a Philippine broadcast television station licensed to broadcast to the Metro Manila region on VHF Channel 5 with a radiated power of 120 kW's.
DWET-TV is the flagship station of the Associated Broadcasting Company.
DWET-TV is known on air as TV5 but prior to 2008 it was known as simply ABC or ABC5.
DWET-TV call signs stand for DW for Luzon and ET for Edward Tan a former investor.
TV5 airs a mixture of shows from news and events, to soaps, sports and children's shows and anime.
The children's shows are broadcasted both Filipino and English at different times, I have noted that Filipino is mainly in the mornings, shows like Bob the Builder may be dubbed but older maybe more retro and nostalgic like Postman Pat are not and in English and aired in the early evening.
The History
DWET-TV originally began broadcasting on Channel 5 in 1960 with the call sign DZTM-TV, but was taken off the air in 1972 when Martial Law was declared in the country.
DWET-TV came back on the air on Channel 5 with new investors on February 21st 1992 and quickly became a major player.
The Video
DWET-TV does not sign off after the re brand to TV5 but still continues to air this National Anthem video prior to 6am each morning, it also features the Flag.
At the end a very funky promotional video with people with TV Set heads!
